The Way It Was: Lesbian Activism In Sonoma County
1965-1995
An event marking the 30th Anniversary of Russian River Women's Weekend:
Saturday May 23rd
4pm at the Composer's House,
16375 4th Street in Guerneville
The Mission of LASC: The primary mission of the Lesbian Archives of Sonoma County (LASC) is to collect oral history interviews, photographs, and relevant memorabilia to document the involvement of lesbians and allies in the building of community and the creation of resources for women between 1965 and 1995 in Sonoma County, California. Our secondary mission is to provide a story-telling space in the present for those older Sonoma County lesbians.
Exhibit & Panel Discussion by members of the Lesbian Archives of Sonoma County: Tina Dungan, Ruth Mahaney, and Ann Neel, followed by interviews on video of legendary Bay Area lesbian activists Sally Gearhart and Phyllis Lyon. A no-holds-barred exploration of lesbian involvement and action in the social movements of the wild and crazy decades beginning in the late 1960s. What did it all mean and why should we care? What did we learn and how much of that is relevant to us today. Donation suggested! Raffle tickets for the original Print by Katie Gilmartin will be on sale.

Leslie Zumwalt with the Katie Gilmartin print framed in cherry
Ms. Gilmartin donated one original RRWW print to be raffled to support the work of the Lesbian Archives of Sonoma County. The print was floated on a bay leaf mat and framed in cherry wood. This beautiful framing was donated by Leslie Zumwalt of Frame of Mind in Forestville-  please show her some love the next time you need framing done!

You can purchase tickets online at left using Paypal or buy them in person at River Reader in Guerneville, where you can see the print in the window until Saturday May 22nd. It will then be transported to the LASC event at the Composer's House. The drawing for the print will take place at 4pm on Sunday May 23rd at the Russian River Resort. You need not be present to win.

All proceeds from the sale of tickets will go to L.A.S.C., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
